Confirmation is the final sacrament of initiation. The faith given in baptism is confirmed and deepened as the Holy Spirit pours over the recipient just as happened to the apostles at Pentecost.

Confirmed Catholics are strengthened and equipped for their spiritual life with the fruit of the Holy Spirit: charity, joy peace, patience, kindness, goodness, generosity, gentleness, faithfulness, modesty, self-control, and chastity. In addition, the confirmed soul is enriched with graces known as the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit: wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety, and fear of the Lord (awe and wonder).

Receiving Adult Confirmation

Adult Confirmation is for Catholics 18 years and older who have been baptized but have not received the Sacrament of Confirmation. It is a process for those who know and practice the Faith but have not received Confirmation for whatever reason.

Steps to receive confirmation

1. Register with RCIA in August
2. Participate in the preparation classes which begins September and goes through Penticost Sunday.
3. Submit the following to the parish office:
   1. A completed Adult Confirmation registration form (please call the Faith Formation office at 972-564-9114 for the link to register).
   2. An official Baptismal certificate from your parish of Baptism, issued within the last six months. Call your parish of Baptism to get this.
   3. The name of your sponsor, the name of his/her parish, and a completed Confirmation Sponsor Affidavit of Suitability form.
   4. The name of your chosen confirmation saint.
   5. Participation in Adult Confirmation during the Vigil Mass for you and your sponsor.

Sponsor Eligibility Requirements

1. A sponsor must be a least 16 years of age and a Catholic in good standing who practice his/her faith.
2. A sponsor must be fully initiated (already received Baptism, First Eucharist and Confirmation) and have been practicing Catholic for at least one year.
3. If married, the sponsor’s marriage must be recognized by the Church.
4. Neither a fiancée, spouse, nor parent may serve as a sponsor for his/her loved one.
